Cockroaches
You have no idea there are cockroaches in your premises. Then you go into a dark room, switch on the light, and hundreds of them dive for cover. Suddenly you have a problem !
Cockroaches have existed on Earth for longer than the Dinosaurs, and have survived climate changes from ice ages to tropical heat. They exist today in outdoor locations in warm countries all over the World, and in houses, hospitals, kitchens, factories and offices in cold countries. The species has survived despite millions being eaten by predators and all attempts by man to exterminate them. To us, they are a horribly repulsive crawling insect, and one that is suspected of carrying disease. Despite out loathing for them, it is important to recognise that they are one of the most successful species of insect ever to exist, and they got there by being very, very, difficult to eliminate. Killing a single cockroach is easy, removing an infestation is hard work. It is really a job for a pest control expert who knows the biology and habits of cockroaches, and who has access to the most up to date information on their control. There are a number of very effective pesticides available now, but if eradication is to be successful the work has to be thorough, and done with care.
Why Cockroaches are so successful in life, and so difficult to eliminate
they will eat almost anything, even items that we would think of as hardly edible. They avoid light, so few cockroaches are seen during the day or in well lit rooms. They come out when it is dark
By insect standards, cockroaches are big and strong and can stand up for
themselves in the insect world. An adult cockroach will live for about
6 months, and each female will produce about 50 -100 eggs.
a really important defence against man is the way it lays eggs. They are
laid deep in cracks and crevices and contained in what amounts to a small
armour plated capsule. Once laid they do not hatch for 2 -12 weeks. Even
if the area is sprayed with pesticide and all cockroaches are killed,
the eggs inside the capsule will surviveticide spray will have worn off.
Within a few months, the young hatchlings will reproduce and the cockroach
infestation will be bac, and by the time the eggs hatch, the effect of
the pesk.
How we will get rid of them for you
By being very thorough and professional about the way we do the job
We will carry out a detailed survey to find out just how big the infestation is. In warehouses and factories we may visit at night when cockroaches are active. In houses we may set sticky traps to catch some specimens
Once we know the size of the infestation, we will choose the best method of treatment. Some of the modern treatment methods are very effective. Sometimes we may need to spray the area with pesticide, and sometimes we can use special baits. Out technician will let you know what treatment is best for you
We know we will not have instant success. Our treatment will eliminate most of the infestation quite quickly, but we know that some cockroaches and eggs will survive. After we have carried out the first treatment we will come back after a few weeks and carry out more work. We will also leave monitoring traps to check if any cockroaches remain, and we will keep returning until we are sure of success.
